Antique Japanese Hearth, 'Kettle Hook' “Jizai Kogi”

About the Item

Japanese Hearth Hook “Jizai Kogi” repurposed as Sculpture Beautifully executed craftsmanship showing rope marks from being suspended from ceiling beam. It held a kettle over a fire which created the wonderful patina over many years of use. Rope marks at top and in middle (from hanging from ceiling beam). Carved from a single piece of Keyaki Wood with faceted edging. A great artistic sculpture in a traditional or modern home. Meiji meets Modern with respect to both (periods). The custom Iron Stand allows it to be positioned for best viewing. Overall dimensions with stand : depth 8" Width 13.75" height 21.5" Late Edo/Early Meiji Period.
