Chinese Pair Large Turquoise Glazed Porcelain Mounted Foo Dogs
About the Item
A large and attractive pair of Chinese turquoise glazed dogs of foo figures dating from the first half of the 20th century. The stylish pair hollow biscuit porcelain figures stand raised on a rectangular base and are looking sideways with open mouths showing teeth each with a raised front paw, one resting on a ball and the other on a puppy dog. Both have finely molded details with black over painted eyes and are richly decorated in turquoise glazes which have pooled around the lower body and within the molded ridges. One with impressed numeral marks to the base.
Provenance: Acquired from the British Art Market.
