A pair of Chinese sculpted and polychromed temple guardian lions architectural wood carvings. Born in China during the 18th or 19th century, each of this pair of temple carvings depicts a hand carved guardian lion, facing left and right. Mesmerizing us with their expressive faces and scrolled details, they each showcase traces of a red, black and gold polychromy that accentuates their imposing presence. Carved to be seen flat against a wall, this pair of Chinese 18th or 19th century guardian lions will be an undeniable conversation piece in any home.

Display the three Sanxing, in their iconic representation as three, old, bearded, wise men, which dates back to the Ming dynasty, when the Gods of the three stars were represented in human form for the first time.
