Two Vintage Thai Handmade Carved and Painted Elephant Sculptures from Chiang Mai

About the Item

Two vintage Thai handmade carved elephant sculptures from Chiang Mai, with slight variations. They are priced and sold individually. Born in Northern Thailand during the mid-century period, each of these two small sculptures depicts an elephant, laying down on its knees. Possibly in position to let a human get on their back, with their trunk lifted upwards, they exude a calm presence. Accented with carved motifs and traces of polychromy, these Thai elephant sculptures will be great decorative items, either displayed as a single or as a pair, perhaps anchoring a chest-of-drawers, side table or console table. They are priced $395 each.
