These sparkly leather slippers (mojari or khussa) from India have upturned toes that are purely decorative. Embroidered with excessive amounts of gold thread, with red accent the slippers signify wealth, status and high fashion. Developed in the Mughal royal courts (1526–1857), this style of slipper was eventually adopted by the wealthy. They were shaped turning up This came to be very fashionable footwear. It was named after Salim, one of the sons of Jahangir (the sone of Akbar), who founded the turning up toes. They were called by the name Salim Shahi Shoes.
