Cast Iron and Brass Coal Grate 19th C
About the Item
Very nice oversize coal insert grate constructed of cast iron, with decorative brass trim. The grate features a dome top backplate, a coal, or wood basket, with a pierced brass concave front grill, with brass legs and finials. This exceptional piece was originally in place in an Old World Brooklyn New York Brownstone, and is in very fine, original, clean and ready to use condition. The restrained Classical design, allows this piece to look right with both Traditional and Modern interior design.
Circa 1840- 1880 Possibly made in England, or the USA, unsigned.
