Mid-20th Century French Louis XV Wrought Iron Fireplace Screen with Vine Motifs
About the Item
Decorate a fireplace hearth with this elegant freestanding antique iron screen. Forged in France circa 1950, the decorative screen with serpentine top stands on scrolled feet and is heavily decorated with grape and leaf motifs in high relief; it is further embellished with a central shell motif over a plaque dating “1769”, and dressed with a pair of iron cornucopias at the bottom. The important and heavy fireplace element is in excellent condition and adorns the original black and gilt finish. Weights 50 pounds.
