18th Century Irish Chimneypiece in Statuary Marble with Convent Siena Marble

About the Item

An elegant and well-proportioned late 18th century Irish chimneypiece in statuary marble GEO-ZE29, circa 1790. The chimneypiece has tapering pilasters inlaid with stop flutes of Convent Siena terminating beneath elongated corner blockings carved with classical draped ewers, the frieze panels inlaid with Siena flutes and flanking a finely carved projecting central tablet depicting a fruit filled urn flanked by arabesques. The ingrounds and outgrounds in richly figured Convent Siena and the mantel shelf corniced with a breakfront. Opening size: 44” wide x 43” high.
