19th Century French Empire Style Fireplace Mantel in Breche Marble

About the Item

An antique French fireplace in quality breche marble with ormolu mounts and original cast iron chamber. In typical Empire Style, and well-proportioned having fine tapering columns supported on square foot blocks and ormolu mounts, again caped with ormolu egg and dart capitals. The frieze having a fielded panel in acanthus leaf ormolu, with cameo mounts to front and side of the end blocks. The mantel in rectangular form. The four piece bespoke chamber with decorative cast iron panels. Opening size: 117.5 W x 92 cm H.
