About the Item
A rustic period Louis XVI stone fireplace. The shaped jambs with stop-flutes, surmounted by guilloche pattern above. The frieze with fluted centre plaque, flanked by carved rosettes and guilloche motif. Moulded shelf above. Particularly tall scale, well suited to a larger fireplace chamber. Nice aged patina to stone. French, 18th century.
