18th Century French Brass Lavabo Fountain from Normandy on Carved Cherry Door

About the Item

Crafted in Normandy, France circa 1780, and mounted on a carved fruit wood door, the antique brass lavabo features the original two-piece lavabo; a demilune basin at the base, and a top reservoir with lid and brass faucet. The fountain is in excellent condition with a rich patinated brass finish. Fill up this decorative "Fontaine Normande" with dry flowers and hang the decorative piece on a wall! Back in the days, these kind of fountains were used after mass for ceremonial washing and were later used outside for hand washing. Measures: 15.75" W x 11" D x 51.5" H.
