19th Century Hungarian Zinc Roof Fragment Planter

About the Item

Once gracing the rooftop of a building in Hungary, this decorative zinc roof finial is now a one-of-a-kind sculptural element to be displayed either inside the home or out. Throughout history, decorative finials were placed atop any manner of buildings, and although typically adorning the peak of a roof, they are also known to be found at the corners. Captivated by its whimsical form, we have attached this beautiful architectural fragment to a custom reclaimed wood stand, enabling the piece to stand on its own as a wonderful focal point. Found in Hungary, at the turn of the century, the finial was once incorporated into a building's gutter system with an opening that now allows it to be used as a unique display for a small plant. The (removable) custom stand is constructed of old wood salvaged from a local McKinney, TX historic building Wear consistent with age, removal from a roof, and exposure to the elements over time. Overall dimensions are approximately 19 7/8” L x 13” W x 31 1/2” H. The zinc finial measures approximately 16 3/4” L x 8” W x 26 1/4” H. The wooden stand measures 19 7/8” L x 13” W x 5 1/4” H.
