Screens have been known to grace the rooms of wealthy Chinese homes since ancient times. In those ancient days, screens were an indispensable item of furniture in all households. They were used to section off a portion of the room to provide additional privacy for the users for dinning, greeting guests, etc. These screens are often made into not only functional articles but are works of art too as with this 5-panel intricately open carved and hand-made wooden screen.
