Ebonized Wooden Pedestal Designed by Otto Prutscher for Thonet

About the Item

A tall ebonized wooden pedestal, probably beechwood, with great form, designed by Otto Prutscher (1880-1949) for Thonet, circa 1910. Elegant scrollwork with three long, slender support legs between a round top and base. This stand design was featured in a 1979 New York Times article by Rita Reif titled "The Return of Viennese Designs".
