About the Item
One of a kind and highly decorative antique stand.
We have asked around and even dealers with decades more experience than us could not tell for sure where this monumental torchere originally was made. What you don't need decades of experience for is to recognize the quality and the presence of this magnificently crafted figurehead stand. This strong standing lady could very well be an historical figure like Joan of Arc. The impressively carved and heavy four legged base and also the Emperial robe around her shoulders make her look even more heroic and monumental. The patina is to die for and apart from minor imperfections this stand (as you can see) could not be in a better condition. The top of this stand had some old watery stains, but we had those professionally removed. We could have sold this rare antique through one of the leading auction houses, but we have decided to offer it to the 1stdibs community and we are certain that she will be enjoyed in a good home soon. With perfect packing and worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days included in our price, this again is great value for money.
