Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Vert Antique Marble and Ormolu Columns
About the Item
An impressive and most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Vert Antique marble and ormolu pedestal columns. Each pedestal is raised by a hexagonal base with a decorative stepped design and fine fitted wrap around ormolu bands with delicate mottled baluster like designs. The tapered central support displays beautiful pierced ormolu plaques alternating between handsome bearded masks with wonderful scrolled foliate designs, blooming flowers, charming bagpipes, trumpets, and flutes tied with a bow. Above most decorative tapered geometric like shapes, also decorated with delicate wrap around ormolu bands, is the hexagonal display shelf with a fine mottled border.
