English 19th Century Wooden Peat Bucket with Brass Lining and Loop Handle

About the Item

A 19th century English wooden peat bucket with brass lining. This walnut and ebonized wood peat bucket, circa 1860-1870 rests on three ball feet and has a removable brass lining. Peat buckets were common in England and Ireland during the 19th century and may have been used to carry everything from oysters to peat moss. This delightful bucket with its clean lines and striking two toned color on the surround would make for a wonderful planter, perhaps for decorative moss, boxwoods or anything that strikes your fancy.
