French Art Nouveau Longchamp Bronze Mounted Ceramic Planter

About the Item

A large French Art Nouveau bronze mounted glazed ceramic planter or cachepot from Longchamp, Burgundy. Vibrant hand painted colorful flowers with bright green foliage and metallic gold accents are dramatically offset on a dark brown ground. Chinoiserie style cast gilt bronze griffin handles, decorative rim and footed base. Longchamp mark is impressed on the underside. A beautiful decorative planter for the display of orchids, ferns or topiary. The bottom has a misfiring flaw to the glaze on the bottom, but this is not a crack or structural flaw. Measures: Overall 16.5" H x 15" W x 12" D. Ceramic pot: 10.5" height x 12" diameter (9.5" mouth). Weight: 13 lbs.
