Barbezat et Cie Cast Iron Painted Classical Sculpture of a Female Water Carrier

About the Item

A fine Mid 19th century cast painted iron sculpture of a Classical form female water carrier on pedestal, with oval foundry stamp “Barbezat et Cie” at her feet, on a round scroll, shell, & foliate decorated pedestal with octagonal base. In 1855 the Barbezat & Cie Foundry was born out of the André workshop. In 1867 Barbezat & Cie changed its name to Houille & Cie. This one-piece ornamental cast iron sculpture is in very good condition, with some paint losses, light surface rust on the base, and expected wear from exterior use. Dimensions: 87 in H x 21 in Diameter base. Ref: 8
