Pair of Antique Marble Shell Basins, France, 19th Century
About the Item
Beautiful pair of shell-shaped "bénitiers" (holy water vessels), carved out of Carrara marble. The sink is fairly shallow, with an elegant, scalloped lip. It is possible to have a hole pierced through the bottom, for day to day use.
Dimensions vary slightly between the two. One is as noted below; the other measures:
