A Pair of Cast Iron French Garden Urns, c.1900
About the Item
This pair of early 20th century jardineres is made from cast iron and has a rich and earthy patina. Though in the "campana" style, these urns are unusually robust and simplified. The design of the lobed bases is flattened and simplified, like the leaf design in the rim. The iron is deeply pitted and rusted, giving an ancient appearance far beyond their true age. The urns of course can be used outdoors but would also make striking interior accents. Because of their honest and rustic appearance, this set of French garden urns would blend easily in a modern room.
