Antique Meiji Japanese Plique A Jour Enamel Bowl
About the Item
An antique Japanese Meiji era enamel bowl. The bowl is covered with polychrome enamel foliage and floral patterns made in the Plique a Jour technique. Mounted on three legs. Circa: early 20th century. Unmarked. Plique a jour is a vitreous enamelling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonne, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel. Antique and Vintage Asian and Oriental Enamel Bowls, Table and Desk Wares, Home Decor, and Collectibles.
