Chimu Bowl by Joanna Lyle for Alessi

About the Item

With the design for the Chimu bowl, British designer Joanna Lyle won a design competition organized by Alessi in 1990 to identify young designers from all over the world. A simple and striking design inspired by the creations of the pre-Columbian Chimu culture, this bowl sits on polished stainless and wood conical tripod feet, has a rough brushed-like surface, and a repeating wave pattern along the rim. Joanna Lyle lives and works in Milan where her design studio carries out commissions for companies such as Acerbis International, Fiam, Arredaesse, and extensive collections for Alessi, including the Ovo range of egg-shaped containers. In good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, including a few scuffs and scratches. (See photos.) 10" x 10" x 5.5"
