Mothership Catch All - Handblown Contemporary Glass Vessel for the Home
About the Item
The Mothership Catch All, as the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia was affectionately dubbed by concertgoers, uses blended color bands to embody the spirit of the venue where the Grateful Dead played their infamous secret show billed as “The Warlocks”, as well as other legendary acts like Phish, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Featuring a molded exterior to mimic the coliseum's signature facade, the Mothership is handblown with cut and polished edges to compliment the geometric design. An extra layer of glass is added to the core bubble to create a heavier optic quality the magnifies the color.

The work has an aesthetic steeped in the 70's vision of future that William was raised on in film and popular culture. Created using traditional Venetian techniques, the FurthurDesign line utilizes the natural attributes and tendencies of glass to create logical design concepts. While each grouping has machine-made qualities, they have distinctly hand blown features and an organic appeal.
