Murano Glass Bullicante Bowl with Generous Gold Polveri, Alfredo Barbini

About the Item

Murano Glass Bullicante Bowl with Generous Gold Polveri, Alfredo Barbini (likely. Seguso is another possibility but it's more likely Barbini in our opinion.) Colors: Gold polveri over/in white glass (Note: Keep in mind that an item's color on your monitor and/or in your environment may look slightly different than in ours, so color may not look the exact same in person as it does on your device.) Size: apx 7.5 x 5.5 x 3 inches (Measurements are approximate and generally represent the longest / widest / highest areas of the piece) Condition rating: 5 / 5 - Excellent Vintage Condition Be First Boldly condition ratings for vintage Murano glass items are as follows: 5/5 = Excellent vintage condition. If there are flaws, they are minimal and of the wear/natural type typical to vintage Murano glass, such as very minor scratching, scuffing, base dulling, etc., &/or bits of ash or tiny bubbles embedded in the glass layers during creation. No cracks, chips, or repairs were found. 4/5 = Very good vintage condition. If there are flaws, they are of the wear/use type often found in vintage glass, such as scratches, scuffs, base dulling, etc., &/or bits of ash or tiny bubbles embedded in the glass layers during creation. If there are any rough areas, they are found more by feel than by sight; for example, tiny raised areas of glass that occurred during creation, tiny specks that may feel like tiny nicks, or scratches slightly deeper than surface scratching. No cracks, chips, or repairs were found. 3/5 = Good vintage condition. In addition to the types of flaws described above, these items may have one or more chips, bruises, or other damage that can tend to occur over years of handling and use. Any such damage is unoffensive enough that we consider the item to still be a beautiful work of art worth owning. 2/5 = Fair, used vintage condition. In addition to (or instead of) the types of flaws described above, these items may have one or more notable injuries such as cracks, larger chips, or staining, or repairs. While we try not to bring items with serious damage to our storefront, once in a while an injured piece is still too beautiful or rare to pass up and can still be enjoyed as a displayable art piece for the home or office. If that seems true of a given piece, we may opt to include the item in our store in case someone out there has been dreaming of just that piece. 1/5 = Overstressed, used vintage condition. In addition to (or instead of) the types of flaws described above, these items have structural damage that is significant &/or obvious, such as an obvious repair, a missing/broken off piece, extensive cracking, &/or one if not multiple deep/large chips. Since damage of this nature can cause worsening of condition over time, especially if another accident occurs that restresses the item, overstressed items are unlikely to appear in our store. To help ensure that your glass beauty remains always beautiful, use caution to protect it. For example, avoid sudden temperature changes such as suddenly moving a cold glass item into a warm space or liquid, or a warm glass item into a cold space or liquid; doing so could conceivably cause breakage. Acclimate your fine glass art pieces to new conditions slowly. And hand wash only, in appropriate temperatures and with products that won't risk harming your glass. Important information: Many vintage Murano glass items have a pontil mark, typically an indention, on the base; while they sometimes may appear to new collectors as chips, they are not. Rather, they are the place where the art piece was removed from the punty to which it was attached during creation. Sometimes these pontil marks have been grinded and polished away by the artist (as is the case with this item), but not always. Vintage glass usually will show some indication of previous ownership, such as scuffing, scratching, dulling on base, etc., and sometimes flaws that occur during creation, such as small raised spots, bits of ash, or tiny air bubbles in the glass. Buyers of vintage handblown glass are presumed to understand and accept such hints of previous ownership. Feel free to send questions if you have any and we will be pleased to respond.
