Organic Modern Cast Bronze Bowl Sculpture with Fish Design by John Forsythe
About the Item
Fabulous organic modern bronze fishbowl sculpture by John Forsythe comprised of cast bronze with golden bronze and green patination. Gorgeous vintage condition with no outstanding flaws that we have found. Please see photos. Circa 1993.
No human being, however great, or powerful, was ever so free as a fish – John Ruskin, Picture Quotes. Just look at this magnificent cast bronze bowl sculpture with fish design created by John Forsythe. A decorative bowl comprised of a cast bronze water whirlpool with swimming fish caught in the spinning currents, their half bodies and patinated green tails distending from the swirling water and a fish tail protruding from the exterior base of the bowl. You feel the struggle of trying to stay above water and complete your journey. Surrounded by a cast bronze rim trimmed with shiny green bubbles or fish eggs as to represent salmon and their spawning. Salmon lay an enormous number of eggs because they face a lot of adversity on their journey to becoming an adult, and while we aren’t sure these fish are in fact salmon, it certainly speaks to the realities of the course of life. Overcoming hardships and struggles and new beginnings. This sculpture is unique and one of only fifty created by John Forsythe, so it is sure to be a sought-after piece for collectors. In the style of organic modern or fantasy, this piece would be gorgeous displayed on your dining table, display cabinet or buffet in the family room, or on the coffee table in the living room.
John Forsythe knew at an early age that he wanted to be an artist. He graduated from Emporia State University in 1976 with his BFA and started working with metals. He was employed as manager of Oxbow Foundry and befriended Eldon Tefft, Founder of the International Sculptor Guild and Chair of the University of Kansas Art Department, along with working with Master Sculptor Kuan Wu, he would further develop his skills. He established his own foundry in 1997, Veritas Bronze, located in Reading, Kansas. Since then, he has designed many well-known monumental pieces including “The Negro League Baseball Museum,” “Young Eisenhower,” “Seth Hays Memorial,” “War Memorial,” along with other prominent pieces including the Merrill Lynch Bull, Amarillo, Texas; Front Façade of New York, New York Casino, Las Vegas; League Baseball Players, Legacy Square-Pittsburgh Pirates Stadium, Pittsburgh, PA. Current projects include Pocket Park Statues in downtown Topeka, Kansas.
We are fascinated by this phenomenal sculpture or decorative bowl and know that you must be too…make it yours!!

There he is… out in the distance standing on the cliffs edge, rearing with a colossal power that only a wild stallion exudes… Thrusting his hooves at the setting sun as if to say, “this is MY mountain, MY meadows, and MY heard.” He commands attention, he is dignified, and he is EXQUISITE. We have a marvelous cast metal bronze tone stylized rearing horse standing on a beautiful black marble base to offer to you. Attributed to C. Jere (a.k.a.) Curtis Jere which is not a single artist but is a nom-de-plume for a group of artists working for Artisan House and well known for their phenomenal jewelry, metal sculptures, and collectibles. And this abstract rearing horse is a perfect example of their remarkable pieces!! Unlike other rearing horse sculptures, this one has a single back and front leg… it appears to have been cast this way and we think he is extraordinary. This sculpture will look fabulous on your desk, coffee table, or on a shelf in any room of your home. And though it’s modern, it will be beautiful anywhere you want to add a little abstract flair. This is just the sculpture you’ve been looking for! Artisan House artists included founders Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels and Curtis Jere is a combination of their names.
