Japanese contemporary decorative porcelain plate in green and red showcasing "Hina-Ningyo" or "Hina Dolls". In Japan, "Hina-Ningyo" or "Hina Dolls" are displayed for the Doll festival on March third, a day for young girls. This tradition dates back to Heian Era and the dolls were believed to protect the girls from the bad spirits. The Hina dolls are displayed in households with girls every year for a month starting on March third.
