Large dish in smoked & polished terracotta by Ariane Mathieu circa 1960. Ariane Mathieu was the spouse of Paul Quéré known for his workshop "Le Minotaure", Ariane Mathieu joined him in his later workshop "La poèterie" This piece is typical of her work in the 1960s, the ceramic is smoked and polished by hand to give a satin luster to the piece. Signed by hand, in great overall condition. "Potter, painter and poet, Paul Quere produced the majority of his work in St-Paul de Vence then in Port-Grimaud. With his partner, Ariane Mathieu, he broadcasts under the name of the workshop Le Minotaure AQ. Muted enamels and geometric graphics on quality pieces; In 1979, they returned to Brittany and continued to produce ceramics, but Paul Quéré worked more often in painting, producing abstract and quality pieces;"
