  • Large Vintage Robert Heritage Mid Century Teak, Afromosia and Sapele sideboard
    By Robert Heritage, Archie Shine
    Located in Highclere, Newbury
A very large Vintage Mid Century Teak, Afromosia and Sapele Knighstbridge sideboard/credenza designed by Robert Heritage for Archie Shine. Standing at just over 244cm in length the Knightsbridge really was the Grand Daddy of all Heritage’s amazing sideboards; not to mention the combination of wood that gave it a wonderfully aesthetic appeal. It’s therefore a long sideboard that would naturally suit a large room or hallway. The drawer section is ribbed Afromosia (which is a harder African teak variant with a richer darker colour) whereas the main cupboard and top section is a more traditional golden teak. But in addition, Heritage has finished the main doors off in Sapele which is a lighter cross cut Mahogany variant that creates a ribbon grain effect as it catches the light – the doors can therefore look lighter or darker in colour as you walk around the piece. As regards storage, there’s a lot on offer. The sideboard has 4 large drawers with beautifully detailed handles and with stylised ribbed fronts – and then there are two sets of doors which reveal two large two tier storage...

  • Amalric Walter and Henri Bergé "Flying Fish" Pâte de Verre Vide-Poche Glass Dish
By Henri Bergé and Amalric Walter
    Located in New York, NY
A ravishing compromise between the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles, this hexagonal pâte de verre vide poche by Amalric Walter and Henri Bergé features a strong architectural shape softened by a lush vortex of pastel colors. A flying fish with raised spine and rigid ribbing on its splayed fins swims languidly through a shallow pool of aqua ripples and speckled kelly green kelp, its body twisting into a serpentine "S," perfectly filling the space within the hexagonal form. Item #: P-20232 Artist: Amalric Walter, Henri Bergé Country: France Circa: 1920 Size: 1.25" height, 7.75" width, 7.25" depth Materials: glass Literature: A similar vide-poche is pictured in Amalric Walter (1870-1959), by Keith Cummings, Kingswinford: Broadfield House Glass Museum, 2006, p. 44, cat. no. 66 The pâte de verre technique is an ancient form of kiln casting, used since the time of the Egyptians, and literally translates to "paste of glass...
