18th Century Italian Florentine Silver-leaf Polylobed Engraved Box

About the Item

Italian antique silvered Florentine box, polylobed box from the end of the 1700s made of bent and curved wood to obtain a four-pointed polylobe. The original silver-leaf finish, now almost entirely oxidized, shows its three centuries of history, only a few traces of gilding remain on the lid whereas the red color of the Armenian Bolus preparation is much more evident. A burin engraving decorates the entire surface of the edges and the lid. There are some old restorations and signs of wear. On the bottom the Pavan Antichità Padova label. The box dates back to the last quarter of 18th century, is in fair condition, with wear consistent with use and age. The box is hand realized with volutes motif engravings. Inside they are not lined. In Italy this kind of work of art is the so called NUNS BOX, the box preserving all the memories of the nuns entering the convent. Florence, Italy, last quarter of 1700s. A lovely antique Italian handmade box for collectors. Measures: Height 5,4 cm x 8,4 cm diameter. This artwork is shipped from Italy.
