1905 Edwardian Leather, Tortoiseshell and Silver Mounted Letter Box

About the Item

1905, England, Unusual and striking Edwardian letter box with leather sides. The curved top and base are mounted with scrolling sterling silver. The front has a monogrammed ("DEW") plate inscribed "El Argentino 15 November 1906" and hallmarks for Dibdin & Co., Birmingham. The box opens to vibrant red watermark silk lined compartments. The lever lock currently non functioning. The key is retained. Dimensions: 8"h x 11"w x 6"d Condition: Good, minor surface wear to exterior, some buckling of silver mounts, silk interior with some fraying and loss, detached slats. Key and lock intact but non functioning. Would benefit from a professional cleaning and polishing.
