"Gilt Oval" Silver Intricate Patterned 20K Leaf Box
About the Item
The "Gilt Oval"
This box is an attention magnate. It is made with sections that are attached by hand. The inner lip is molded to the shape. Then filler is used to cover all of that work. A primmer is applied to smooth out the exterior surface then it is sanded, this process is repeated 2-3 times. Once that exterior work is completed it's ready for the next Artisan who is a French gilder with 25 years of experience of doing outdoor sculptures to interior restorations for the most important buildings in NYC and along the East Coast. The leaf is 20K Italian it is made of 80%GOLD 4%SILVER 12%PALLADIUM 4%PLATINUM, all noble metals
After the box is leafed, it then transported covered in a wool/cotton batting for protection. At this step a top coat of gloss varnish is applied 2-3 times as needed.
The interior work consists of Chinchilla Rooster feathers hand applied one feather at a time! This artisanal technique is done with a secret sauce that has been used in the accessory trade for decades.The Chinchilla Rooster bird's feathers are a byproduct of the meat industry in the USA. The box's color palate is classic blending in easily with many looks, styles, themes and periods. This box is exactly as I envisioned it to be which is so satisfying. I think you will love this.
