Bacchus Bacchus, the god of wine, is the main figure and is personified by a half-dressed boy seated in a basket throne with vine leaves, holding a large spoon as a scepter in his left hand. For the Romans Bacchus, was the god of the grape-harvest, winemaking and wine, of fertility, orchards and fruit, vegetation, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, festivity and theatre in the ancient Greek culture.
