Scandinavian Hand Painted 19th Century Pine Strong Box

About the Item

Scandinavian hand painted 19th century pine strong box circa 1840. Good example of traditional rustic Swedish woodwork.  Painted in a russet red paint with hand painted cream drags.  Original iron strap work and hinges, also the original lock, but no key or latch.  Lid opens to a plain bare pine storage space. Age splits to top but structurally sound, expected surface marks and minor losses, but ready for everyday use.
