Small Tiger's Eye Stone Box, circa 1965
About the Item
An attractively proportioned box made from Tiger's Eye with bands of colour running through the stone. A gilt metal hinge joins the top and bottom sections.
Tiger's Eye is a member of the quartz family of rocks that polishes to a glossy lustre and has a holographic quality. This gemstone is great for decorative pieces due to the fact that it is relatively hard.
The colouration of Tiger's Eye typically includes strips, lines and veins of colour in beautiful shades of honey, rich yellow and various shades of brown.
Dimensions: 11 cm/4⅜ inches (length) x 5.5 cm/2⅛ inches (depth) x 3.25 cm/1¼ inches (height).
