Whaler Made Bone and Ebonized Wood Round Lidded Box, circa 1850

About the Item

Whaler made antique bone and ebonized wood round box, circa 1850. With pierced bone medallion and delicately carved bone spiral decorative supports on the base. Geometric designs etched into the ebonized surface showing the lighter wood underneath. This exquisite piece of craftsmanship is expertly turned, likely made by a ships cooper. Measures: 3.25 inches high 3.25 in diameter.
