A wonderful 20th Century David Andersen Silver & Guilloche Enamel box with Lid Circa 1960. A beautiful object in excellent condition. The translucent green enamel is of the highest quality and the lid flawlessly sits in position to give overall perfection. The finish inside the box is immaculate and creates a great contrast with the green exterior. This piece would make a wonderful statement in most interior settings. The silver on both the outside and the interior is in superb condition. Upon opening, the front cascades down to reveal two wells for water and perhaps mixing colours. The interior is well protected thanks to the interior gilding. The lid engraved “Lettice’s Paint Box”. Lettice is a traditional, English girl’s name most commonly found in the upper classes. The actual paints are not original but the current set of paints are a later acceptable replacement. The miniature brush was with it but not original and doubt it ever had one. The surface of the box is plain and unembellished. This antique tea caddy is fitted with a plain domed hinged cover surmounted with an impressive chased decorated festoon style bow finial. The cover features a hallmarked incurved thumbpiece to the anterior edge. This antique tea caddy is supported by four impressive chased leaf decorated feet. The caddy retains the original gilded interior. The hallmarks struck to this impressive tea caddy consists of a Yugoslavian import mark denoting the finesse / purity of silver as .800 standard; this horse head mark was used from 1919-1933, determining the date of this piece as circa 1925.
