Georg Jensen
For over a century, Georg Jensen has produced some of the finest objects in Scandinavian modern design, including silver tableware, serving pieces, home decor, jewelry and more, frequently partnering with leading artisans to expand its offerings and respond to shifting tastes. Known for minimal aesthetics that reference nature, the craftsmanship of this legendary Danish silverware firm has regularly married function with thoughtful and beautiful design.
Founder Georg Jensen (1866–1935) was born in the small town of Radvaad, Denmark, and began his training as a goldsmith at 14. After studying sculpture and then training with master silversmith Mogens Ballin, he established his own silver business in Copenhagen in 1904. By 1918, the company was successful enough to open a shop in Paris.
Jensen’s firm produced an incredibly vast range of silver objects, from serving dishes and barware to centerpieces and chandeliers. For his early work, which bore ornate floral details and other organic forms of Art Nouveau, Jensen looked to the splendors of the natural world. The 1905 Blossom teapot, for instance, was topped with a magnolia bud and deftly balanced on toad feet, while some of Jensen’s best-known flatware patterns included Lily of the Valley, introduced in 1913, and Acorn, which debuted in 1915.
Collaboration with outside designers, long before such partnerships were common in design, would lead to some of the company’s most popular and enduring work of the mid-century. Sigvard Bernadotte and Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe created collections, as did Henning Koppel, whose curvy 1952 Pregnant Duck pitcher is a Georg Jensen classic.
After evolving and expanding throughout the 20th century, Georg Jensen was acquired by Investcorp in 2012. Today, the company is a global luxury brand with more than 1,000 stores around the world. It continues to produce seductive new pieces, such as a tea service made with Marc Newson in 2015, as well as timeless heritage designs, including the relaunch in 2019 of the 1018 solid sterling-silver Tureen 270. In 2020, the firm introduced the Jardinière 1505. Sculptural and richly decorative, the never-before-realized showpiece is hand-hammered from sheets of the finest sterling silver and is based on a 1915 sketch from Jensen’s archives.

These fine vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver candelabra have a panelled hexagonal form, in the classic early 18th English style. Each impressive candelabrum retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit scrolling arms, which support circular baluster shaped capitals surmounting plain hallmarked dished drip pans. Each candelabrum is fitted with three labra conjoined to with a central baluster shaped finial. These versatile vintage candelabra can be used with three lights or as candlesticks once the arms (labra) are detached. The panelled waisted column of each candlestick is embellished with a rounded knop to the lower portion. The hexagonal swept foot incorporates a subtle plain circular sunken well. Each candelabrum does not have a weighted base. These exceptional candelabra were crafted by the renowned London silversmith Richard Comyns of William Comyns & Sons Ltd. Condition These vintage sterling silver candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The components have been professionally polished and are in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and part hallmarks to the sleeve of each labra are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. These fine vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver candelabra have a plain circular form, in the George I style. Each impressive two-light candelabrum retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit scrolling arms, which support two rounded waisted capitals with plain circular dished drip pans. These versatile vintage candelabra can be used as candlesticks once the arms (labra) are detached. The knopped stems are surmounted on sunken wells, to tooled decorated circular spreading bases. The filled bases retain the original leatherette covering to the underside. The base of each was made by Richard Comyns of William Comyns & Sons Ltd and the labra were crafted by William Bruford & Son; these items will have been crafted in the same year but due to the hallmarking system the bases are struck with the date letter 'd' and the labra bear 'e'. Each impressive three light candelabrum retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit scrolling arms embellished with reed decoration. The branches (labra) support two cylindrical capitals, each encompassed with bands of applied gadroon decoration. The capitals are fitted with the original hallmarked push fit square sconces, embellished with further gadroon decorated borders to the rims. Each capital of these Victorian candelabra centrepieces surmounts an impressive square drip pan, featuring identical ornamentation to that of the sconces. Each silver candelabrum is fitted with a third detachable central elevated capital. These versatile Victorian candelabra can be used as candlesticks once the arms are detached, alternatively, the labra may be conjoined to form a five-light candelabrum. The panelled waisted column of each candlestick is encompassed with gadroon decoration to the knops.
