Pair of French 19th Century Louis XV Style Candelabras, Signed F. Linke
About the Item
A magnificent pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. finely chased ormolu and marble candelabras, signed F. Linke. Each four arm candelabra is raised on a pierced scrolled ormolu base, with very impressive ormolu foliate wrapping up the marble body. Four very opulent scrolled foliate arms ending floral candlecups, are staggered at different levels. On the lid is a stunning ormolu foliate finial. All original gilt throughout. François Linke (1855-1946) Renowned 19th Century Parisian Ébéniste. Linke created historical interpretations of Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. He displayed at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900 where he received a gold medal for his exhibition. The Art Journal "Revue' described Linke's style as 'entièrement nouveaux'. His characteristic sculptural gilt mounts reflected the influence of marquetry genius André-Charles Boulle.
