20th Century Pair of Italian Sterling Silver and Rock Cristal
About the Item
Pair of candlesticks with base and upper part in silver and stem in rock crystal. The two candlesticks were made by the same silversmith, Mario Poli - Milan - Italy but with two different types of animals and finishes.
A candlestick has a smooth candle holder resting on a miniature rhinoceros and made with the casting technique and finished with a chisel.
The rhinoceros is in turn placed on a smooth round plate in which a rock crystal stem is placed.
The base, also in round and smooth sterling silver, takes up the style of the candle holder.

The other candlestick has a smooth and gilded candle holder resting on a miniature Indian elephant made with the casting technique and finished with a chisel. The elephant is two-tone, silver and gold.
The elephant is in turn placed on a smooth round plate in which a rock crystal stem is placed.
The base, also in round and smooth sterling silver, takes up the style of the candle holder but is not gilded.
