About the Item

An English tall case clock by George Slater in mahogany, circa 1830. A fine tall-case clock, with the signature on the painted dial of "George Slater, Burslem." In beautiful figured and crotch, bookmatched mahogany with brass ball finials and eagle on split-pediment top and turned columns flanking dial case and door and resting on bracket feet. The case and the movement have been restored and the clock is in good working order. Burslem is one of the five towns that make up Staffordshire (formerly Stoke on Kent.)     Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Clock mechanism has been cleaned and restored and is in good working order. It will need to be balanced in the buyer's home. Case was expertly restored and French polished in our workshop.
