Westminster Chiming Grandmother Clock in a Mahogany Case

About the Item

This grandmother clock has a spring-driven, three train, chiming movement, facilitating the Westminster chime on a nest of gong rods. The case is made of solid mahogany and is made in the Georgian London style as is the norm for early 20th century grandmother clocks. The hood has break arch form. The case has a full length trunk door, very reminiscent of the 18th century long cases or tall cases and the box base has a raised panel and stands on a shaped plinth. The brass dial with silvered chapter ring is also very reminiscent of the 18th century and is one of the most pleasing features about the clock. This is a very well-proportioned clock, very well made and has a charming musical tone to the chimes.
