This late 19th century work of time telling art is in very good condition and the design is both elegant and stylish. We have cleaned the movement of this majestic and sizable clock which is why it is in perfect working order. The combination of the gilt bronze body and the white enameled dial face behind the curved glass door is an absolute joy to look at. An antique such as this clock on your mantel or sidetable immediately and permanently changes the look and feel of the room it is in. First of all, it would have taken a designer several days, if not weeks, to hand draw this design and this would take multiple sketches. Secondly, a ceramics specialist created the perfectly shaped and glazed majolica 'clock house'. This requires glazing and heating/'baking' in the keln and there too many things can go wrong. Thirdly, the aesthetically beautiful flower sculptures that you now see in gilt bronze, would first have to be sculpted out of clay or another material. From that initial sculpture a mold would have to be made and that mold would then be filled with extremely hot liquid bronze. The bronze sculpture would then have to be sanded, polished and gilt.
