Art Deco French Clock Set, Greyhound
About the Item
A stunning original French Art Deco clocks set, circa 1925. It features a beautifully captured figure of a greyhound, cubist in the manner of Michel Decoux (1837-1924). The case is a pyramid with applied geometric panels of specimen stones; onyx and a exquisitely figured pink, orange and red marble. The side urns are of complimenting design.
The dial is matted gold, screen printed with stylised elongated numerals and complete with it's original square form blued steel hands.
The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. It is a traditional 'Pendule de Paris' movement with a pendulum. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock running, please ask and we will send you a link.
Condition of the case is excellent, the greyhound has its original finish with a lovely patina that has worn where the clock has been held for winding. Marble is also excellent with a very good polish and only very slight nibbles to the edges and corners. Dial is also very good with just some very slight marks.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
