English Red Chinoiserie Mantel Clock, Japy Freres Movement, Circa 1920
About the Item
An early 20th century Japanned red and gilded mantle clock, decorated with cranes among a floral design, the 4" inch enamel dial having Arabic numerals and case with a rounded finial and twin carrying handles, the 8 day French Japy Freres movement striking on a single gong.
The case decoration is particularly nice on this clock and this is the first clock I have handled which is decorated with cranes.

- Condition:Small chip to the edge of the dial at the 10 o'clock position as seen in the images. However, this is covered by the bezel and is not visible when the door is closed. There is a small vertical crack to the wood case at the 12 o'clock position.
