French Empire Ormolu and Marble Mantel Clock, ca.1790

About the Item

This antique mantel clock was created in Paris at the end of 18th century. The main body of the mantel clock is made of white marble along with Napoleon red marble fragment at the base,which makes the mantel clock look rich and lavish. On top of the clock is located a marble sphere and throughout the piece are visible gilt bronze strips. The dial has a round face and is encircled with and gilded bronze that appears on the hour and minute hands as well. The dial contains arabic numerals that signify hours and minutes that stand out against a white enameled background. The eight-days going movement has a wire suspension pendulum, It strikes the hour and half hour on it’s bell. The clock comes complete with its pendulum, key and bell. The clock is in excellent and perfect working condition. In addition, it was recently cleaned and serviced by a professional clockmaker.
