Georgian Style Musical Clock, Chiming on 8 Bells, 19th Century

About the Item

A stunning 19th century Victorian mahogany cased Georgian style clock of compact proportions. The lantern topped case with decorative brass sound frets to the sides backed with red silk, brass vertical inserts to the front pillars and inserts to the top of the front door. The top corners adorned by four brass balls surmounted by a brass carry handle. The base with a brass border and supported on four ogee feet. The face with brass spandrels and a silvered chapter ring with three winding holes to the matted centre and a strike/silent dial to the top. The substantial three train platform escapement movement sounding the quarters on a carillon of eight bells and striking the hours on a gong. Overall a very attractive clock of pleasing proportions and ease of set up (no pendulum).

    The clock movement and case have been sympathetically cleaned and the clock presents in fine condition. There is a small old repair to the veneer on the left side of the case as visible in the images.
