Neoclassical Louis XVI Period French Mantel Clock

Neoclassical Louis XVI period French mantel clock French, late 18th century Dimensions: Height 56cm, width 33cm, depth 9.5cm Crafted from ormolu and a later malachite veneer, this refined Louis XVI period mantel clock is designed in a neoclassical architectural style. The clock features a circular placed white enamel dial with Roman numeral indices. The dial is surrounded by an ormolu border, from which hangs pierced fabric mouldings and an Apollo sun-burst pendulum. The clock is flanked by two malachite columns with neoclassical ormolu mounts depicting female figures and rosettes, and is supported by a rectangular base with four feet. The drum is surmounted by an elaborate ormolu finial, flanked by a pair of griffons and floral garlands.
