French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Rouge Griotte Marble and Bronze Clock
About the Item
An exceptional and high quality French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. Rouge Griotte marble and patinated Bronze clock. The clock is raised by eight patinated Bronze foliate fluted feet with a central foliate patinated Bronze mount. The impressive uniquely shaped Rouge Griotte marble base displays a beautiful fitted patinated Bronze rosette band following the shape of the base on all sides. The dial is accented with gilt Roman numerals and hands adorned with a patinated foliate garlands that continues to each side. Large scrolled Bronze foliate mounts decorate each side of the fluted marble central column which supports the stunning and most elegant patinated Bronze bust of Diana the huntress. Diana is gazing to the right while dressed in classical attire and displaying a crescent moon in her tied back hair. All original rich and warm patina throughout.
