About the Item
A stunning and most impressive large size antique French cartel clock.
Exquisitely hand-crafted in France in the 19th century, very fine quality hand carved and rich brilliantly gilded wood case, exceptionally executed classical Louis XV style, showcasing the elegant exuberance of Rococo taste, featuring fanciful sculptural ornamental scroll and floral design. Surmounted by highly stylized acanthus leaf scrolling flourish openwork crest, over a hinged convex glass dial cover atop white porcelain face with black roman numeral dial and later key wound movement revealed from hinged wooden door to verso.
